Ethnographic Collections

The ethnographic collections of the MAH consist of over a hundred objects. Some of the exhibits were acquired during field research conducted in 1967. They originate from the Stargard district, and some of them are items left behind by previous residents in 1945. The majority of the collection consists of gifts from private individuals.

Among the items, notable are the dowry chests dated to the 18th–19th centuries. These chests were once among the most important pieces of furniture in homes and manor houses. Other remarkable items include cradles. Among the clothing and textiles, there are objects that arrived in our lands with settlers from the "Vistula" operation, as well as serviettes, tablecloths, and pillowcases. Many of the items were once used in the everyday life of households, such as oil lamps, water carriers, mangles, sickles, coffee roasting machines, two-person hand saws, and even skis, which could be used to travel on snow-covered roads, even in the valleys. The collection also includes common items like spinning wheels, or curiosities such as a cheese press and a walking stick with a seat.
